Jamie Spears

Jamie Spears (born James Parnell Spears) is a retired businessman and the father of Britney Spears. Jamie was raised in Louisiana, and at the age of 14 lost his mother to suicide. Throughout high school he played both basketball and football. He went on to become a welder, often working in oil refineries.

Jamie ran a successful construction business in the 1980s. In the midst of his daughter Britney’s successful singing career, he retired from the business in 2008 to become her conservator after she was involved in multiple scandals. Though it was initially announced to be temporary, Jamie’s conservatorship over Britney lasted 13 years.

He quickly became a prominent figure in 2020 after the public began to raise concerns about the conservatorship, sparking the #FreeBritney movement. In 2021, after years of alleging conservatorship abuse, Britney testified against Jamie in what became a high profile court case. The conservatorship officially ended in November of that year.

Jamie was married to Lynne Irene Bridges from 1976 to 2002. The pair share children Bryan James (born in 1977), Britney (born in 1981) and Jamie Lynne (born in 1991). Both Jamie and Bridges were said to have reconciled but were completely separated as of 2020.
