About

Khalid Donnel Robinson, famously known as Khalid, is a singer and songwriter known for his blend of R&B and soul music. Born in Georgia, he spent most of his childhood in El Paso, Texas, where his exposure to various cultures influenced his passion for music.

Khalid’s breakthrough came in 2016 with his debut single, “Location”, which gained popularity on social media and led to a record deal with RCA records. His debut album, American Teen (2017), was a commercial success, featuring hit songs like “Young Dumb & Broke.” The album earned him five 2018 Grammy nominations.

In 2019, Khalid released his second studio album, Free Spirit (2019), which debuted at No. 1 on Billboard 200. The album featured chart-topping singles such as “Talk” and “Better.” Throughout his career, Khalid has collaborated with notable artists like Normani, Halsey, Billie Eilish and Ed Sheeran.

Khalid has received numerous accolades, including six Billboard Music Awards, three American Music Awards and one MTV Video Music Award.

Khalid publicly came out as gay in November 2024 after being outed by his ex-boyfriend, singer Hugo Almonte. Almonte made a series of since-deleted posts on X accusing Khalid of drug use and abusive behavior. Khalid quickly denied the allegations and clarified that their relationship ended years ago.
