Meredith Vieira grew up in Rhode Island before attending Tufts University. Following her college graduation in 1975, she kicked off a prolific journalism career.
Vieira famously hosted The View on ABC for 11 years before leaving the series in 2006. She went on to host Today from 2006 to 2011 and has continued to appear as a guest host over the years. Vieira later hosted and executive produced The Meredith Vieira Show from 2014 to 2016. She has also hosted various game shows over the years, including Who Wants to Be a Millionaire and 25 Words or Less, the latter of which she has hosted since 2019.
She currently acts as a correspondent on various television programs, including NBC News, Today, Today With Hoda & Jenna and Dateline.
The journalist married Richard Cohen in 1986, and they were together for 38 years prior to his December 2024 death. They share three children: Benjamin, Gabriel and Lily.
