Mike Myers
Mike Myers (born Michael John Myers) is an Emmy-winning Canadian actor. After appearing in numerous commercials as a child, he scored a handful of minor TV roles, including an appearance on the sitcom King of Kensington. He continued to act throughout high school, joining The Second City touring company shortly after graduation. He later moved to London where he founded The Comedy Store Players improv group.
Upon his return to Canada, Myers landed a few theater roles before appearing in the Canadian show It’s Only Rock and Roll as Wayne Campbell. In 1989, he earned a spot on the cast of Saturday Night Live, where he reprised his Wayne Campbell role. His SNL sketches featuring Campbell were later adapted into the 1992 movie Wayne’s World, marking his film debut.
Myers found his niche with comedy films, starring as the titular roles in the satirical spy trilogy Austin Powers (1997 to 2002) and the movie adaptation of Dr. Seuss’s The Cat in the Hat (2003). He has a successful voice acting career, most notably as the voice of Shrek in the Shrek franchise, which began in 2001.
The actor took a hiatus from acting from 2010 to 2018 and made his return to the big screen with 2018’s Terminal. He went on to star in Bohemian Rhapsody that same year. He also appeared in David O. Russell’s Amsterdam film in 2022.
Myers is set to reprise his role as Shrek in the 2026 release, Shrek 5.
The Canadian married Robin Ruzan in 1993, and the pair split in 2005. The following year, he announced his relationship with Kelly Tisdale. The couple wed in 2010 and share three children: son Spike (born in 2011) and daughters Sunday (born in 2014) and Paulina (born in 2015).
