Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor
Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, the second son of Queen Elizabeth II and the late Prince Philip, Andrew Albert Christian Edward was born on February 19, 1960. He has three siblings: Charles (born in 1948), Anne (born in 1950) and Edward (born in 1964).
The royal’s early education started in Buckingham Palace. After completing boarding school, he went on to serve in the Royal Navy as a helicopter pilot and later as the captain of a warship. Andrew took part in the Falklands War in 1982, flying on several missions at the time.
In 1986, Andrew married Sarah Ferguson and was named Duke of York on his wedding day. They share two daughters: Princess Beatrice (born in 1988) and Princess Eugenie (born in 1990). Andrew and his then-wife announced their plans to separate in March 1992 and finalized their divorce four years later.
Andrew made headlines in 2019 when his alleged ties to the late Jeffrey Epstein publicly resurfaced. He stepped back from royal duties in November 2019 amid the scandal.
One month prior, Andrew was accused of sexual assault by Virginia Giuffre, a claim that he has since denied.
He permanently resigned from all public roles in May 2020 and gave up his royal titles in October 2025. Charles began the process of formally removing the titles later that month. In February 2026, Andrew was arrested for suspicion of misconduct in public office.
