About

Rob “Boston Rob” Mariano is a reality TV star best known for his several appearances on Survivor.

Born Robert Carlo Mariano, the TV personality grew up in Boston with an Italian family. After graduating from Boston University with a degree in psychology, he became the school’s hockey coach. He also was a construction worker.

In 2001, Mariano made his first Survivor appearance in season 4, Marquesas. While he was the leader of his initial tribe, Mariano was the first one voted off at the merge. Two years later, Mariano returned for Survivor: All-Stars where he made it to the Final 2 alongside Amber Brkich. The pair fell in love during the season, and Mariano proposed to Brkich during the finale moments before she was crowned the winner.

After All-Stars, Mariano returned for Heroes vs. Villains as a member of the Villains tribe, where he made it to day 18. In 2011, Mariano was finally crowned Sole Survivor in the Redemption Island season, which host Jeff Probst dubbed the “most perfect game of Survivor ever.”

Mariano also went on to appear on Survivor season 39 as a coach alongside fellow winner Sandra Diaz Twine. He later competed on Winners At War alongside Brkich.

Mariano has also competed on The Amazing Race, Deal or No Deal Island and The Traitors. Additionally, the TV personality served as the lead contractor on Secret Celebrity Renovation.

Mariano and Brkich tied the knot in April 2005 at the Atlantis Paradise Island in the Bahamas. Their nuptials were broadcast in a wedding special titled Rob and Amber Get Married. The couple, who relocated to Florida, share four daughters.
