Robert Herjavec

Robert Herjavec is a businessman and television personality best known for his role as an investor on ABC’s Shark Tank. He was born in Varaždin, Croatia, and immigrated to Canada with his family at the age of 8. Herjavec grew up in Toronto, where he attended the University of Toronto and earned a bachelor’s degree in English literature and political science.

Herjavec began his career in film production before transitioning into technology. He founded BRAK Systems, a Canadian internet security company, in 1990 and sold it to AT&T Canada for $30.2 million in 2000. He later founded The Herjavec Group, a cybersecurity firm, which became one of Canada’s fastest-growing technology companies. His profile rose after appearing on CBC’s Dragons’ Den and later Shark Tank, which debuted in the U.S. in 2009. He has remained a principal cast member throughout the show’s 17 seasons.

Herjavec is also the author of several business books, including Driven (2010) and You Don’t Have to Be a Shark (2016). He competed on season 20 of Dancing With the Stars in 2015, where he was partnered with professional dancer and future wife Kym Johnson.

Herjavec was married to Diane Plese from 1990 to 2016, and they share children Brendan (born in 1993), Skye (born in 1996) and Caprice (born in 1998). He married Johnson in 2016 after meeting on DWTS. The couple welcomed twins Hudson and Haven in 2018.
