Roseanne Barr

Roseanne Barr started her career as a stand-up comedian before starring on the TV sitcom Roseanne, which earned her the Golden Globe Award for Best Actress — Television Series Musical or Comedy and the Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series in 1993. She published her autobiography in 1989 titled Roseanne — My Life as a Woman and made her film debut in She-Devil that same year. In 1998, Barr started hosting her own talk show, The Roseanne Show, which ran until 2000.

ABC launched the revival of Roseanne with the original cast in 2018, but the series was canceled after Barr’s controversial comments about President Obama’s former senior advisor, Valerie Jarrett. The network later produced a spinoff titled The Conners without Barr’s involvement.

Barr had her first child, Brandi Ann Brown, at the age of 17 in 1970. She placed her daughter for adoption but they later reunited. Barr’s first marriage was to Bill Pentland from 1974 to 1990. The exes share three children: Jessica (born in 1975), Jennifer (born in 1976) and Jake (born in 1978). Four days after divorcing Pentland, Barr married comedian Tom Arnold. The pair divorced in 1994. Barr then married Ben Thomas, welcoming son Buck via IVF in 1994 before separating in 2002. Barr has been dating Johnny Argent since 2003.
