
Stephen Belafonte
Stephen Belafonte is a film producer and director. Belafonte spent his childhood in California and attended Loyola Marymount University, where he studied film. After graduating, he formed the production company Remag and began to pursue film full time.
Belafonte began working in the industry in the early 2000s, producing low-budget films and documentaries. He gained attention with the 2005 documentary Straight from the Projects: Rappers That Live the Lyrics (2004) and went on to produce Thank You for Smoking (2005), Mutant Chronicles (2008) and Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call New Orleans (2009). He has also appeared on shows such as The X Factor, Mel B: It’s a Scary World and Cupcake Wars.
From 1997 to 1999, the producer was married to Nancy Carmell, with whom he shares daughter Giselle Belafonte (born in 2004). He later moved on with former Spice Girls member Mel B, who he tied the knot with in 2007. They welcomed daughter Madison in 2011 before their divorce in 2017.
