Steve Buscemi is a Golden Globe-winning actor, director and producer. Buscemi was raised in the Long Island town of Valley Stream and briefly attended Nassau Community College before enrolling at the Lee Strasberg Theatre & Film Institute in Manhattan. Prior to acting full-time, he worked as a firefighter with the FDNY in the early 1980s.

Buscemi began acting in the late ’80s, landing early roles in indie films and gaining recognition for his performance in Parting Glances (1986). His breakout came in 1992 with his role as Mr. Pink in Reservoir Dogs. He went on to earn critical acclaim for performances in films like Fargo (1996) and Trees Lounge (1996), which also served as his directorial debut.

The actor has built a career playing memorable supporting and leading roles in films like Con Air (1997), Armageddon (1998), Interview (2007) and The Death of Stalin (2017). He later starred as Nucky Thompson on HBO’s Boardwalk Empire, winning the Golden Globe for Best Performance by an Actor in a Television Series – Drama in 2011. He has also lent his voice to projects such as Monsters, Inc. (2001), Hotel Transylvania (2011) and Rick and Morty.

In 2025, he joined the cast of Apple TV’s The Studio.

Buscemi was wed to artist Jo Andres from 1987 until her death in 2019. The couple share one son, Lucian (born in 1990).
