She’s a beautiful and talented actress, but there’s one thing Jennifer Lawrence can’t do, and that’s sing!
Not that it stopped her displaying her (lack of) talent on Tuesday, Nov. 12’s Late Show With David Letterman. Wearing a black Alexander Wang top and skirt, and a sleek Balmain white blazer, the 24-year old actress told Letterman she grew up unaware of how unappealing her singing voice is.
These days, at least, she knows she’s no singer, so when she was asked to stretch her vocal chords for the latest Hunger Games movie, she burst into tears.
“I do not like singing in front of other people, that’s like my biggest fear,” the actress told host Letterman. “I cried on set that day. I’m scarred from my childhood.”
“I have a Southern mother that used to tell me I was amazing at everything and I could do everything, but I can’t,” she explained. “I had this tone-deaf-Amy-Winehouse voice and I sang in front of the school when I was 8, because I thought I could” she remembered.
“My dad laughed for the entire week! I’d hear him around the house, imitating me. I hate it, I hate it!”
Jennifer’s real-life voice made the final cut in The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1, although she says she’s yet to hear the results herself.
“I was like, will you guys please get Lorde and lip-sync it?” she joked.
