Lorde

Lorde (born Ella Marija Lani Yelich-O’Connor) is a singer-songwriter known for her genre-defying pop sound and breakout hit “Royals.” Born in Auckland, New Zealand, Lorde was raised in the suburb of Devonport. She is the daughter of poet Sonja Yelich and grew up with a strong literary influence. She attended Takapuna Grammar School, where she developed an interest in writing and performing.

Lorde rose to fame in 2013 with her debut single, “Royals,” which became an international hit and topped the Billboard Hot 100. Her debut album, Pure Heroine (2013), established her as a distinctive voice in pop music and quickly gained critical and commercial success.

She followed up with albums including Melodrama (2017) and Solar Power (2021), earning widespread acclaim and multiple Grammy Awards, including Song of the Year for “Royals.” Known for her artistic control and evolving sound, Lorde has remained an influential figure in modern pop music.

Lorde previously dated photographer James Lowe. From 2015 to 2023, she dated Justin Warren.
