The girl on fire returns! Jennifer Lawrence reprises her role as Katniss Everdeen in The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part I, which released its first full-length trailer on Monday, Sept. 15.
“I never wanted any of this,” Katniss says in the clip. “I never wanted to be in the games. I just wanted to save my sister and keep Peeta alive.”
The diabolical leader of Panem, President Snow (Donald Sutherland) responds: “Miss Everdeen, it’s the things we love most that destroy us.”
The trailer features Katniss questioning her role as the Mockingjay, the symbol of rebellion against the Capitol, while she and her love interest, Gale Hawthorne (Liam Hemsworth), are seen training with crossbows for the uprising in the underground locale of District 13.

Meanwhile, Katniss’ partner-in-crime Peeta Mellark (Josh Hutcherson) has gone missing, only to reappear on-screen in a propaganda ploy from the Capitol.
The nearly two-minute trailer is intense, dark, and scary. Unlike the first two Hunger Games installments, the “games” are not the featured plot point of Mockingjay Part I.
Returning and new characters to be featured in Mockingjay Part I include Woody Harrelson as Haymitch, Julianne Moore as District 13 President Coin, Elizabeth Banks as Effie Trinket, and the late Philip Seymour Hoffman as gamesmaker Plutarch Heavensbee. (Hoffman passed away this past February before filming was completed for Part 2 of Mockingjay.)
