A24’s Undertone is like Backrooms, but set in the podcasting world while packing a scary punch at the end.

Critics were divided about Keeper when it debuted last year, but I think its fascinating take on folk horror makes it worthy of any scary movie binge list.

If you’re a horror fan, you’ve probably watched Midsommar, but no summer season would be complete without rewatching Florence Pugh showcase her impressive screaming skills.

‘Keeper’ (2025) — Hulu

With 2024’s Longlegs and 2025’s The Monkey, director Osgood Perkins has been killing it lately, and he serves up another slice of strange horror with Keeper. To celebrate his first anniversary with his girlfriend, Liz (Tatiana Maslany), doctor Malcolm (Rossif Sutherland) takes her to a secluded cabin deep in the woods. Their romantic idyll is soon disturbed by Malcolm’s cousin, Darren (Birkett Turton), and his model girlfriend, Minka (Eden Weiss). When Malcolm abruptly leaves to take care of a patient in the city and Minka goes missing, Liz thinks something strange is afoot. Where did Minka go? And what’s up with those strange creatures following Liz around the cabin?

Keeper is a slow-burn horror movie that ratchets up the crazy one eyebrow-raising scene after the next. You probably won’t guess what happens in Keeper, but if you somehow do, I suggest you see a shrink. The movie isn’t for everyone — it bombed when it was released last November, and it has a so-so 49 percent Rotten Tomatoes score. But I genuinely was surprised at how Keeper ended, in addition to all the horrors that it showed me along the way. Without spoiling anything, I can safely say I’ll never look at a jar of honey the same way ever again.

‘Undertone’ (2026) — HBO Max

Evy (Nina Kiri) is a true-crime podcaster stuck in her childhood home caring for her terminally ill mother (Michéle Duquet). When Evy and her remote co-host, Justin (Overcompensating’s Adam DiMarco), receive some audio files promising a real-life horror story involving a missing young couple, they’re intrigued enough to air them on their podcast. But the normally skeptical Evy begins to believe the terror in those files is real and that her comatose mother is in danger. Is Evy right, or is it all in her head?

Undertone is a low-key horror movie that eventually rewards your patience and curiosity. It takes its time building up its story, slowly piecing together Evy’s lonely life with that of the young couple she’s listening to. Director Ian Tuason brings it all together in the powerful ending, which resembles The Blair Witch Project’s in sheer impact and mystery. You might be asking yourself what happened after it’s over, and part of the fun is figuring out what you just saw — and what you didn’t see.

After experiencing a devastating tragedy, Dani (Florence Pugh) accompanies her emotionally distant boyfriend Christian (Jack Reynor) on a trip with his friends to a secluded commune in Sweden. Upon arrival, Dani witnesses several strange events, including a ritualistic suicide and several of Christian’s friends’ sudden disappearances. What’s going on in the commune? And is Dani the key to all this madness?

Midsommar is a prime example of “elevated horror” done right. Yes, there’s a heavy subtext involving family trauma, but director Ari Aster doesn’t forget to serve up the scares. What separates Midsommar from the pack is that it takes place largely during the day. There are few shadows to hide the evil that’s in plain sight, which makes the film even creepier. Better still is Pugh’s terrific performance, which accurately conveys the bottomless despair Dani feels as a result of her past. The last scene of the film, featuring a character slowly smiling at the camera, remains one of the chilling things I’ve seen in a horror film.

Cassie is ready to move on one year after she testified against ex-boyfriend Sean “Diddy” Combs.

“Cassie is doing really well and prefers a low-key life out of the spotlight now,” a source close to the R&B singer exclusively tells Us Weekly.

In May 2025, a heavily pregnant Cassie, 39, spent four days on the witness stand, testifying against Diddy, 56, in his sex trafficking and racketeering trial. In court, the singer claimed that the rapper physically and sexually abused her throughout their on-again, off-again relationship from 2007 to 2018. Diddy has denied the allegations.

“I don’t hate him,” she said on the stand. “I have love for the past, and what it was.”

Diddy was ultimately found guilty of transportation for prostitution and sentenced to serve just over four years in prison. His legal team has attempted to appeal the conviction.

Cassie, meanwhile, welcomed her third child, a son, with husband Alex Fine two weeks after her testimony. Cassie and Fine, 33, who tied the knot in 2019, also share daughters Frankie, 6, and Sunny, 5.

“It was emotionally draining for her to testify in Diddy’s trial, and she is glad that chapter is behind her,” the source continues.

The insider says that although it has been “healing” for Cassie to know that Diddy is in prison, she also has “anxious feelings” knowing that he will eventually be released.

“She has to work through those emotions every day,” the source adds. “What she went through was so traumatic, and she is still continuously getting therapy and living with the trauma. It is something she has to work on every day.”

“Cassie wants nothing other than to be a good example for her kids, especially the girls,” the source concludes. “At the end of the day, her biggest priority is her kids. She wants to be a strong, healthy example for them and show them what it looks like to choose yourself, set boundaries and move forward even after really difficult experiences. That’s what’s driving her now more than anything.”

Cassie has also made a major move with her family, according to a Tuesday, June 2, report from TMZ on Tuesday, June 2. According to court docs obtained by the outlet, the dancer filed a declaration in May amid her lawsuit with male escort Clayton Howard in which she stated that she “[resides] outside of the United States. I do not intend to move back to the United States.”

She reportedly went on to note that she is “I am a citizen of the United States. I am not a resident of the State of California.” (Last year, Howard accused Cassie of aborting his child and giving him an STD, which Cassie has denied.)

“It’s so much information now with social media, and I think that I really wanted this [campaign] to feel intentional and really cut right through the way I have conversations with my girlfriends about eczema,” Rowland explained. “One of my girlfriends has it all over her hand, and I get it. It just flares up anywhere it wants to, and eczema does kind of have a mind of its own.”

EBGLYSS is an injectable medicine used to treat adults and children 12 years of age and older who weigh at least 88 pounds with moderate-to-severe eczema. Potential patients are recommended to check with their doctors to see if it could be a fit.

While Rowland has had no problem making the Best Dressed list at red carpets or concerts, the singer admits that eczema flare ups have occurred during some of the most inconvenient moments in her life.

“There was this one time I was overseas, and I had a flare up in the corner of my eye, and I kept scratching,” she said. “By the time it was time for me to perform, I remember the area that I was scratching was blacker than the rest of my eye.”

During the Wednesday, June 3, episode of the BritBox period drama, Mr. Ryder (Laurie Davidson) offered Mary (Ella Bruccoleri) the chance to travel with him. Mary initially assumed them going away together meant they would get married — until Mr. Ryder clarified he wanted them to be together but with no strings attached.

“At the time and in the moment, Ryder thinks that he’s the ultimate modern feminist of that time. He’s like, ‘Well, marriage is a complete patriarchal shackle and of course, you would want to do away with that,'” Davidson, 34, exclusively told Us Weekly. “I don’t think he’s fully realized that the actual realities of that are very, very different.”

In early April, three judges from the Second U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in New York City spent roughly two hours hearing arguments from Combs’ legal team, which is seeking to overturn his conviction. The rapper, 56, was convicted on two counts of transportation for prostitution last July and began serving his 50-month sentence in late October. His attorneys argue the punishment was unfairly harsh and claim recordings from Combs’ infamous freak-offs were attempts at amateur pornography protected by the First Amendment. Nearly two months later, no decision has been made, and one judge described it as an “exceptionally difficult case.”

In the meantime, Combs has spent the past seven months adjusting to life behind bars. According to his lawyer, Juda Engelmayer, the father of seven — Quincy, 35, Justin, 32, Christian, 28, Chance, 19, twins D’Lila and Jessie, 19, and Love, 3 — has remained “remarkably positive” and “hopeful” as he awaits word on the appeal. (Engelmayer notes the court agreed to expedite the decision, which could come at any time.) “He’s focused on the appeal,” Engelmayer tells Us Weekly, “and looking back at his life and trying to figure out ways to improve and be a better person.”

If Combs wins his appeal, he could receive a reduced sentence or even a new trial, explains Neama Rahmani, CEO of West Coast Trial Lawyers. In court filings, Combs’ attorneys argued that footage from the freak-offs — marathon sex parties in which Combs allegedly forced women to perform sex acts with male sex workers while he watched — should be considered “amateur pornography,” which is protected under freedom of speech in the U.S. Constitution. They also maintain he was wrongfully convicted under the Mann Act, which prohibits transporting individuals across state lines for prostitution, and insist the encounters were consensual.

Federal prosecutors pushed back aggressively. In a February filing, they argued Combs wants the court to ignore “how he carried out his offenses and abused his victims — violently beating them, threatening them, lying to them and plying them with drugs.” In a letter to Judge Arun Subramanian presented prior to Combs’ sentencing, his ex-girlfriend Cassie Ventura said she did not freely consent to participating in freak-offs. “While the jury did not seem to understand or believe that I engaged in freak-offs because of the force and coercion the defendant used against me, I know that is the truth… these events were degrading and disgusting, leaving me with infections, illnesses and days of physical and emotional exhaustion before he demanded it all again.”

Combs’ legal team has also argued the judge improperly increased his sentence based on allegations tied to the sex trafficking and racketeering charges — counts for which he was acquitted. During sentencing, however, Subramanian insisted that was not the case, saying Combs was being sentenced based on “the offenses of conviction, not the crimes he was acquitted of,” adding, “However, under law, the court shall consider the nature of the offense and characteristics of the defendant.”

Rahmani believes the appeals panel could issue a decision this summer. “We’re dealing with a high-profile case that raises potentially precedent-setting issues related to acquitted conduct that may ultimately end up before the Supreme Court,” he explains. If Combs loses, he can request that the full Second Circuit Court of Appeals hear the case or petition the Supreme Court directly. “But neither of them have to hear the appeal,” Rahmani says. “It’s optional.”

Combs is “hoping for a good outcome,” says Engelmayer, noting that the music mogul has been very hands-on with his case. “He’s become like a paralegal, if not a lawyer already,” he adds. “My experience [is that] clients who are deeply involved in their cases are the ones who get further.”

The Bad Boy Records founder has been keeping a low profile at Fort Dix, which features a dormitory-like setting with military-style bunk beds and communal bathrooms — a far cry from Combs’ former life in his $48 million Miami mansion and $62 million Los Angeles estate. A former inmate who spent 17 months at Fort Dix between 2019 and 2020 previously described conditions inside the facility as grim. “There’s one bathroom per floor with toilets and showers and everything is broken. A lot of the food is expired. It’s horrible. They don’t care,” he told Us. “I was there a day and a half, and I [told a] kid [I just met], ‘This isn’t a jail, this is an insane asylum!’ and he agreed. It was a zoo.”

According to Engelmayer, Combs is blending in. “He’s trying to be one of the guys. He’s congenial and helpful,” he says, adding that while some of his fellow inmates look up to the Grammy winner “because of his celebrity,” he “doesn’t play that up. He sits down one-on-one with people [and] talks to them and helps counsel some of them. He has a following and people like him [but] he also spends a lot of time by himself.” Last November, Joe Giudice, who previously served his 41-month sentence for fraud at Fort Dix, told Us that Combs’ fate “depends on how he carries himself. As long as he keeps a low profile and doesn’t try to act like a big shot, he’ll be fine.”

Combs — whose net worth was estimated at $400 million in 2023 — now works in the prison library, shelving books, organizing materials and helping inmates find reading recommendations. “He talks to inmates about what they want to read so he can recommend things to them,” Engelmayer tells Us. (According to the Federal Bureau of Prisons website, prison jobs typically pay between 12 and 40 cents an hour.)

During downtime, Combs works out regularly in the prison gym and walks laps around the prison grounds. “If he’s in the yard, he tries to play basketball,” Engelmayer says, adding that the rapper “isn’t looking to become jacked — he just wants to stay healthy and keep his mind healthy.” Combs also “meditates and prays,” Engelmayer continues. “[That’s] become part of his faith and therapy journey.”

As part of his sentence, Combs is participating in Fort Dix’s Residential Drug Abuse Program (RDAP). Following his September 2024 arrest, federal agents said they found ketamine, MDMA and prescription drugs in his NYC hotel room. During the nearly eight-week trial, Combs’ former employees testified that they were tasked with procuring illegal substances, including cocaine and marijuana, for the mogul. In a letter submitted to the judge before sentencing, Combs admitted he had “lost his way” in “drugs and excess.”

Attorney Scott Rosenblum of Rosenblum, Schwartz & Fry tells Us that if Combs completes his RDAP successfully, “he is likely to get a year off his sentence.” Rahmani adds that the rapper can also get 15 percent credit “for good behavior” through the rehabilitation program, which helps explain why his projected release date has shifted. Combs was initially scheduled for release on June 4, 2028, but is now expected to leave prison on April 25, 2028.

Even beyond the legal battle, Combs faces another challenge: attempting to repair his reputation. “The black cloud over [Combs’] future is the way he’s viewed and being seen by the public, and the way some people are taking shots at him,” says Engelmayer, “which he wants to correct.”

In December, rapper 50 Cent released the Netflix docuseries Sean Combs: The Reckoning, which explored Combs’ allegedly ruthless and violent rise to power. Through his rep, the music mogul called the series a “shameful hit piece,” and his legal team later sent Netflix a cease-and-desist letter alleging the streamer used stolen footage filmed in the months before his 2024 arrest. “I’m not doing this as some personal mission,” 50 Cent (real name Curtis Jackson) told Us in November of producing the doc on his longtime rival. “When this story evolved, it was clear there was a bigger conversation happening.”

For Combs, the constant headlines have been difficult to escape. “It’s not easy to read stuff about yourself on a regular basis,” says Engelmayer. “They do have television [at Fort Dix]. It hurts, but he’s being very strong.”

There have been additional documentaries examining the allegations against Combs as well. In late April, a judge dismissed the rapper’s $100 million defamation lawsuit against Peacock and NBCUniversal over their January 2025 documentary Diddy: The Making of a Bad Boy, ruling that his reputation had already been severely tarnished long before the project’s release. Engelmayer says Combs wants to “show people who he really is, but he also knows there’s a time and a place for [that].”

Public defenders remain scarce, though a handful of industry figures have continued to support him. In a March interview with Forbes, R&B singer Usher defended his former mentor’s legacy, saying he still recognizes the “valuable contributions” Combs made to music and culture. “I don’t have anything negative to say about Sean Combs because my experience was not what the world has seen,” Usher said, “and how he’s been misrepresented.”

Combs’ family also remains in his corner. He talks to his children and his mom, Janice, “regularly,” and they have visited him at Fort Dix, says Engelmayer, adding that Combs hopes to make up for lost time when he’s released. “He wants to spend more time with family, being a better friend, father, and son.”

In a letter submitted to the judge before his sentencing, Combs wrote he was “committed to the journey of remaining a drug-free, nonviolent and peaceful person.” Ventura, however, painted a starkly different picture in her own statement to the court, writing that her ex had “no interest in changing or becoming better.” She added, “He will always be the same cruel, power-hungry, manipulative man that he is. Who he was to me — the manipulator, the aggressor, the abuser, the trafficker — is who he is as a human.”

Engelmayer insists Combs is focused on rebuilding his life. According to the attorney, the mogul has become interested in prison reform and “wants to [somehow] be involved” in advocacy in the future. During his detainment at Brooklyn’s Metropolitan Detention Center, where he was held for over 13 months following his arrest, Combs taught a business class called Free Game With Diddy, though Engelmayer says he doesn’t believe he’s set up the class at Fort Dix. Adds Engelmayer: “His immediate focus is getting out and righting his wrongs.”

But even after prison, Combs’ legal troubles will continue. He is currently facing more than 50 civil lawsuits, many involving allegations of sexual misconduct. The cases could result in major financial settlements, though not additional jail time. Among the accusers is producer Rodney “Lil Rod” Jones, who claims Combs repeatedly groped him and forced him to solicit sex workers. (A judge dismissed five of Jones’ nine claims last March.) Former Danity Kane member Dawn Richard has accused Combs of sexual assault and battery, while a woman named Joi Dickerson-Neal alleges he drugged and raped her when she was a college student. Combs has denied all allegations against him in the civil filings.

Despite the legal battles and damage to his reputation, Engelmayer believes it would be premature to rule out a future comeback. “I’m not saying for sure he will,” the attorney tells Us, “but he’s got a lot of years left in him. You can’t count him out.”

The Emmy winner, 35, shared on the Tuesday, June 2, episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live! that he walked away with “many” souvenirs from the set of the hit Hulu dramedy, which wrapped production on its fifth and final season in early March. (Season 5 premieres June 25 on Hulu.)

However, the most memorable keepsake he took from the Chicago set was a butcher’s block table that has been part of the furniture since season 1.

White said the prop was “in the corner of The Beef, the restaurant that you saw when the show started [as] a sandwich shop,” noting that it’s the “only thing that really remained during the evolution of The Beef into The Bear, which is the fine dining restaurant” his character, Carmen “Carmy” Berzatto, establishes during the show’s run.

“It remained in the same corner. It was the only thing from the old world that came into our new world,” he explained. “And I stole that.”

White continued, “I got it shipped out. It weighs about 400 pounds. … It’s in my driveway under a tarp. I just know that wherever it lands, it’s going to stay there, so I’m just being very careful about where I put it.”

The Bear was an immediate success for Hulu when it premiered in 2022. Costarring Ayo Edebiri and Ebon Moss-Bachrach, the first season won 10 Emmy awards, including Outstanding Comedy Series, Outstanding Lead Actor for White, and supporting actor nods for Edebiri and Moss-Bachrach.

White repeated his Emmy victory in 2024, but narrowly missed out on Outstanding Lead Actor for season 3 in 2025. The award went to The Studio actor Seth Rogen.

The Bear’s fourth season is eligible for this year’s Emmys, while the final season will be eligible in 2027.

In an interview with Us Weekly in September 2025, White’s costar Abby Elliott said, “I don’t want it to end. I love everybody. I love this family, the characters and also the real-life actors. We’re now very close. I could see endless stories.”

“The show could go on if that was ahead of us. We all have fallen in love with the characters and want to see what they do and want to see how they continue living and how the restaurant continues,” she continued. “Personally, I think that there are just stories upon stories still to be told.”

In May, however, Hulu confirmed the show’s fifth season will be its last. All episodes will be available to stream on June 25.

“I can’t promise anything. I can’t promise [Paul and Georgia are] not getting back together. I can’t promise they will,” Porter, 46, exclusively told Us Weekly at the MPTF NextGen Summer Party, which was presented by Delta Air Lines and Waymo, on Sunday, May 31. “I can’t promise it’s Joe’s baby and I can’t promise it’s Paul’s. Y’all are just going to have to tune in and see.”

Porter did tease the role his character plays on the show, adding, “Paul is a foundational element of Wellsbury, which is a town that is a character in its own right on our show. So I’m not so sure that Paul isn’t important enough to Wellsbury to at least be around.”

Ginny & Georgia originally introduced Paul as the mayor of the town — and Georgia’s (Brianne Howey) love interest. They got married before Georgia got arrested for murder and Paul’s world got turned upside down. In season 3, which premiered last summer, Georgia used daughter Ginny’s (Antonia Gentry) positive pregnancy test to trick Paul into staying with her.

Paul found out and the fictional couple got into a fight, which ended with him hitting a wall. The physical contact triggered Georgia’s PTSD from past abuse and ultimately caused some online backlash against Paul.

“Season 3 was all about Paul actually hitting rock bottom and finding out, ‘Is there anywhere else I can go?’ Then season 4 is about figuring that out and I’m not going to say that it gets better or worse for him but he has to look in the mirror and he has a reckoning,” Porter teased to Us. “That is the one word I would use for this season — for a lot of our characters — is there is a reckoning for everyone. Paul is not immune to that.”

Porter broke down Paul’s state of mind in season 3, adding, “He really felt like maybe he was bulletproof in that regard and you see him place blame at the end of season 3 but you can’t place blame for the rest of your life. Eventually you’ve got to take ownership and responsibility for the things that you do.”

The actor continued: “I’m not going to say he had the wrong reaction but I do think Paul understands he had wrong actions and he really is going to have to deal with that. He’s going to have to process that and he’s going to overcome it if he wants to continue doing what he’s done his entire life.”

Despite the strong reactions to Paul’s actions, Porter isn’t sweating it too much.

“When you’re an actor on a TV show, all you can hope for your character is that you’re challenged in new ways that you continue to keep the plates spinning. It’s up to us to keep this character alive and keep people invested,” he continued. “Of course, the writers are going to give you excellent stuff to work with but it’s really up to us to care about our characters in a way that makes the audience also connect with them. So, for me, for Paul on this show, I really just want this journey for him.”

Porter appreciated the chance to switch things up.

“If you play the same note every single day, every single week, every single episode, every single month, as a character, people are going to stop connecting with it,” he noted. “But as you change, stretch, break, mold, rebuild, more and more people are going to understand you as an actual human being. That’s all I want. That’s all I want for Paul. So the journey is where it’s at and he’s definitely on one.”

Looking ahead, Porter is excited to see what comes next, adding, “We have incredibly talented writers and we have a creator who has had a vision for our show since the very beginning. We’re seeing it come to fruition and every time we see a story line come to the front, it blossoms into 10 more story lines. The show is still going to be great and I can’t wait to be a part of it.”
