About
Elizabeth Meriwether’s New Girl premiered on Fox in 2011 and features Zooey Deschanel as quirky teacher Jess Day, who moves into a loft with three men, including Nick Miller (Jake Johnson) and Schmidt (Max Greenfield). Damon Wayans Jr. initially appeared as third roommate Coach, who is eventually replaced in the apartment by Winston Bishop (Lamorne Morris) but makes frequent cameos. Hannah Simone plays Jess’s best friend, Cece Parekh.
The series follows the group’s humorous dynamic as their friendships — and romantic relationships — develop further. Before its seventh and final season aired in 2018, New Girl was nominated for five Golden Globe Awards and five Emmy Awards.
