Alexa Vega

Alexa PenaVega is an American actress who rose to fame playing Carmen Cortez in Spy Kids.

PenaVega kicked off her career as a child star on Evening Shade in 1993, going on to score parts in Nine Months, Twister, Life’s Work and The Deep End of the Ocean before landing the lead role in 2000’s Spy Kids. She reprised her Spy Kids role in three subsequent sequels.

PenaVega’s acting credits also include Sleepover, Ruby & The Rockits, From Prada to Nada, The Pregnancy Project, Machete Kills, The Tomorrow People, Nashville and a handful of TV movies on both Hallmark and Great American Family. She also appeared on season 21 of Dancing With the Stars, where she was partnered with professional dancer Mark Ballas. They finished in sixth place.

PenaVega was previously married to Sean Coven from 2010 to 2012. She later moved on with Big Time Rush musician Carlos PenaVega. The pair got married in 2014 and combined their respective last names.

Alexa and Carlos share sons Ocean (born 2016) and Kingston (born 2019) and daughter Rio (born 2021). Alexa suffered a stillbirth with their fourth child, daughter Indy, in 2021.
