Bill Hader

Bill Hader is an actor and comedian best known for his tenure on Saturday Night Live.

The Oklahoma native got his start making short films with friends as a kid, and he eventually dropped out of college to chase his Hollywood dreams. After moving to Los Angeles, Hader was hired as a production assistant and started taking improv classes at Second City in 2003 with Nick Offerman’s brother, Matt. The Parks and Rec alum’s wife, Megan Mullally, saw one of Hader’s improv shows and recommended him to SNL exec Lorne Michaels.

Hader officially made his debut on the iconic sketch show in 2005 and remained on the series until 2013. Some of his most popular characters include Weekend Update‘s Stefon and elderly news reporter Herb Welch. He also excelled at impressions, appearing as Dateline‘s Keith Morrison, Fleetwood Mac guitarist Lindsey Buckingham, Anthony Scaramucci and more.

Along with SNL, Hader has starred in films like Superbad, Knocked Up, Hot Rod, Forgetting Sarah Marshall, Adventureland, Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs, The Skeleton Twins and Trainwreck.

In 2018, Hader created HBO’s Barry with Alec Berg. He received eight Primetime Emmy Award nominations as producer, writer, director and actor, winning Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series in 2018 and 2019.

The Inside Out star wed Maggie Carey in 2006, announcing their split 11 years later. The former couple share daughters Hannah, Harper and Hayley. Hader and Carey’s divorce was finalized in 2018.

Hader was linked to Rachel Bilson in late 2019. The duo made their red carpet debut at the 2020 Golden Globes, calling it quits by June 2020. Us confirmed in January 2021 that Hader moved on with Anna Kendrick before they eventually split. He’s been dating comedian Ali Wong since 2023.
