Bruno Tonioli

Bruno Tonioli is a choreographer, dancer and television personality best known for judging Dancing With the Stars in the U.S. and Strictly Come Dancing in the U.K. Born in Ferrara, Italy, Tonioli moved to Paris in his teens to pursue dance professionally. He later settled in London and trained with various dance companies.

Tonioli began his career as a professional dancer and choreographer in the 1980s, working on stage, film and music videos. He has choreographed for and performed with major artists including Elton John, Tina Turner, Duran Duran and Paul McCartney. He gained international visibility in 2004 when he became a judge on Strictly Come Dancing and later Dancing With the Stars, holding the former role until 2022. In 2023, he joined the judging panel of Britain’s Got Talent.

Tonioli has been in a long-term relationship with partner Jason Schanne since 2010. The couple held a commitment ceremony in 2012.
