About

Paul McCartney is an iconic figure in the music industry and known as a cofounder of The Beatles and later as a solo artist. McCartney taught himself piano, guitar and songwriter as a teenager after being influenced by his father who was a jazz player. McCartney joined John Lennon’s group The Quarrymen in 1957, which later evolved into The Beatles.

As a member of The Beatles, alongside Lennon, George Harrison and Ringo Starr, the band became a global phenomenon in the 1960s, producing hits like “Let It Be,” “Strawberry Fields Forever” and “All You Need Is Love.”

After The Beatles disbanded in 1970, McCartney began pursuing a career as a solo artist with the 1970 album McCartney and later went on to form the band Wings with his first wife, Linda Eastman, and Denny Laine. Some of his solo hits include “Maybe I’m Amazed,” “Every Night” and “Fine Line.” Throughout his career, McCartney has received several accolades including an Academy Award, an Emmy Award, 19 Grammy Awards and two inductions into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

McCartney married Eastman in 1969. The twosome had three children together: Mary, Stella and James. The singer also adopted Eastman’s daughter from a previous marriage, Heather. Eastman died from breast cancer in April 1998. Following her death, McCartney married Heather Mills in 2002. The pair welcomed daughter Beatrice in 2003 before separating in April 2006. McCartney later moved on with Nancy Shevell. The couple wed in October 2011.
