Cynthia Nixon is best known for portraying Miranda Hobbes on HBO’s Sex and the City, which earned her the Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series in 2004. She reprised the role in the films Sex and the City (2008) and Sex and the City 2 (2010), as well as the spinoff series And Just Like That, which premiered in 2021. Nixon has also appeared in Amadeus (1984), Warm Springs (2005), James White (2015) and Killing Reagan (2016). She’s starred on The Gilded Age since 2022.

Nixon made her Broadway debut in 1980’s The Philadelphia Story. She went on to star in Broadway’s Rabbit Hole (2006) and The Little Foxes (2017), earning Tony Awards for Best Actress in a Play and Best Featured Actress in a Play, respectively. Nixon’s Broadway credits also include The Real Thing (1983), The Women (2001) and Wit (2012).

Nixon previously dated educator Danny Mozes from 1988 to 2003. The exes share children Samuel and Charles, born in 1996 and 2002, respectively. Nixon married activist Christine Marinoni in 2012, and the couple welcomed son Max in 2011.
