About

Kim Cattrall is a Golden Globe Award-winning actress best known for her role as Samantha Jones on HBO’s Sex and the City. She spent most of her childhood in British Columbia before moving to London, England, for a year to study at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art. After completing high school in Canada, she moved to New York City to train at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts.

Cattrall began her screen career in the mid-’70s, making her film debut in 1975’s Rosebud. She worked steadily in television and film, appearing in TV movies like Good Against Evil (1977) and landing guest roles on shows like Logan’s Run early in her career.

Her breakout came in 1998 when she was cast as PR executive Samantha Jones in Sex and the City, remaining a principal cast member until the show ended in 2004. She earned widespread recognition for the role, and her performance won her the Golden Globe Award for Best Supporting Actress in 2002. She reprised the character in the feature films Sex and the City (2008) and Sex and the City 2 (2010), and made a cameo in the 2023 revival, And Just Like That. She went on to land recurring roles on shows like Filthy Rich, Queer as Folk, Glamorous and How I Met Your Father.

Cattrall wed Larry Davis from 1977 to 1979. She later wed Andre J. Lyson from 1982 to 1989 and Mark Levinson from 1998 to 2004. In December 2025, she tied the knot with long-term partner Russell Thomas.
