Donald Glover

Donald Glover is an actor, writer, director and musician known for his work on Atlanta, Community and his music career as Childish Gambino. Glover was raised in Stone Mountain, Georgia, where he attended DeKalb School of the Arts. He later graduated from New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts in 2006 with a bachelor’s degree in dramatic writing.

Glover got his start as a writer for 30 Rock, joining the show’s writing staff in 2006 at age 23. He gained national attention playing Troy Barnes on NBC’s Community from 2009 to 2014. His rise continued as he developed his own FX series Atlanta, which premiered in 2016. Glover served as creator, writer, director and star of the show. It earned him multiple Emmy and Golden Globe Awards, including the Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series. In 2019, he lent his voice to Disney’s remake of The Lion King as Simba. In 2024, he starred in and cocreated the Amazon Prime series Mr. & Mrs. Smith alongside Maya Erskine.

In music, Glover performs under the name Childish Gambino. His 2018 single “This Is America” debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 and won four Grammy Awards, including Song Of the Year and Record of the Year.

Glover has been in a long-term relationship with Michelle White since the mid-2010s. The couple share sons Legend (born in 2016), Drake (born in 2018) and Donald III (born in 2020). The twosome tied the knot in 2024.
