Donny Osmond
Donny Osmond is an American singer, actor and television personality best known for his decades-long career in music and TV. Osmond was born in Ogden, Utah, the seventh of nine children in a close-knit Mormon family. He began performing at a very young age alongside his older brothers on The Andy Williams Show, which helped kickstart his career in entertainment.
He rose to fame in the late ’60s as a member of the family band The Osmonds, which scored multiple chart-topping hits and became a pop culture phenomenon. Osmond soon launched a solo career, breaking out as a teen idol with covers of songs like “Go Away Little Girl” and “Puppy Love.” His clean-cut image and vocal success made him a fixture on magazine covers and television throughout the ’70s.
Osmond expanded his career into television and theater, cohosting Donny & Marie with his sister Marie Osmond and later appearing on Broadway in productions like Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. He has also pursued a solo career with releases such as The Donny Osmond Album (1971) and Portrait of Donny (1974).
Osmond went on to make appearances on reality TV, winning Dancing With the Stars in 2009 and finishing as runner-up on The Masked Singer in 2019.
Osmond married Debbie Glenn in 1978. They share five sons: Don (born in 1979), Jeremy (born in 1981), Brandon (born in 1985), Chris (born in 1990) and Joshua (born in 1998).
