Drew Carey

Drew Carey is a comedian best known for starring in his sitcom, The Drew Carey Show, and hosting The Price Is Right.

Carey grew up in Cleveland and attended Kent State University for three years. After dropping out of college, Carey enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. He served for six years as a field radio operator.

Following his time in the military, Carey embarked on a comedy career. After writing jokes for a pal who worked as a radio DJ, Carey decided to pursue stand-up and went on Star Search in 1988, where he began to get national attention. After the competition, Carey went on to make appearances on The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson, Late Night With David Letterman and more.

In addition to stand-up, Carey also branched out into acting. He had a small role in the film Coneheads and worked as a consultant for the series Someone Like Me. While working behind the scenes, Carey and writer Bruce Hedford came up with the idea for The Drew Carey Show. Carey starred in the ABC comedy series for nine seasons.

While working on his eponymous sitcom, Carey also began hosting Whose Line Is It Anyway?. He hosted the improv series for seven seasons. In 2007, Carey was selected to replace Bob Barker as host of The Price Is Right.

Carey is also a minor owner of the Major League Soccer team the Seattle Sounders.

In his personal life, Carey has been engaged twice. He proposed to ex Nicole Jaracz in 2007 but the pair called it quits five years later. In January 2018, Carey got engaged to ex Amie Harwick. The twosome broke up nine months later but remained close friends. In 2020, Harwick was found dead and her ex-boyfriend Gareth Pursehouse was convicted of her murder in 2023.
