
Geoffrey Arend
Geoffrey Arend is an actor best known for his role as Matt Mahoney on the political drama Madam Secretary. Arend attended Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School of Music & Art and Performing Arts, where he studied drama. He began his acting career shortly after graduating.
Arend first landed a voice acting role on the adult animation Daira in 1997 before landing his first notable role as a stoner in Super Troopers (2001). He later gained high acclaim for playing the supporting role of McKenzie in 2009 romcom 500 Days of Summer, in which he acted alongside Zooey Deschanel. He continued to build his career with roles in both comedy and drama, appearing in films such as Save the Date (2012) and Beach Pillows (2014).
The actor has had a number of recurring television roles, including on Body of Proof as Ethan Gross and Goliath as Griffin Petock. In 2014, he signed on to CBS’s Madam Secretary, and he remained with the show until it ended in 2019. He later found a home with Hulu, starring in the network’s shows Paradise and Deli Boys.
Arend married Christina Hendricks in 2009; the couple announced their split in 2019.
