Heather Gay was born and raised in Salt Lake City and was brought up Mormon but distanced herself from the church as an adult. Best known for her role on The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City, the Bravo star graduated from Brigham Young University.

Gay joined RHOSLC in 2020 and has starred in every season since. In 2023, she appeared on season 3 of The Real Housewives: Ultimate Girls Trip alongside her RHOSLC costar and third cousin Whitney Rose. Apart from her appearances on Bravo, Gay also owns the medspa Beauty Lab + Laser.

Gay is the author of the memoirs Bad Mormon and Good Time Girl, which detail her exit from the Mormon church.

The TV personality married Billy Gay III, who comes from a Mormon family, in 2004. The couple have three daughters: Ashley, Georgia and Annabelle. The twosome split in 2015.
