Kody Brown

Kody Brown is best known for starring on TLC’s Sister Wives. The show, which premiered in September 2010, chronicles his life with his four wives — Robyn, Christine, Janelle and Meri Brown — and the children they share.

He was raised Mormon by parents Genielle and William Brown. His father was also a polygamist later in his life, and eventually had three wives of his own.

The Wyoming native legally married Meri in April 1990. After the couple decided to practice polygamy, Kody “spiritually married” Janelle in 1993 and Christine in 1994. Kody and Meri decided to divorce in September 2014, so Kody could legally marry Robyn, whom he had been courting, and adopt her children from a previous marriage. Although he and Meri are not legally bound anymore, they continue to be “spiritually married.” Kody and Robyn, whom he was courting when Sister Wives premiered, tied the knot in 2014.

Kody and Meri share one child, Leon, whom they welcomed in 1995. She was born five years after he and Meri wed. He shares six kids with his second wife Jenelle: Logan, Hunter, Robert, Gabriel, Maddie and Savannah. Kody and Christine also have six children together: Paedon, Aspyn, Mykelti, Gwendlyn, Ysabel and Truely. With fourth wife Robyn, Kody shares son Solomon and daughter Ariella. He also adopted her little ones from her previous marriage: David, Aurora and Breanna.

The salesman was raising his family in Nevada, where polygamy is legal, but moved everyone to Flagstaff, Arizona, in 2018. The move caused tension with some members of Kody’s large family, namely Meri whom he’s long since had a rocky relationship with.

Christine announced in November 2021 that she and Kody had split. Janelle, meanwhile, revealed in December 2022 that she and the patriarch had been “separated for several months” ahead of their 30th wedding anniversary.

Meri, for her part, confirmed in December 2022 that Kody made the “decision” that they were no longer married.
