Jay Mohr is an Emmy-nominated actor and stand-up comedian. He attended high school in New Jersey and shortly after graduating joined a theater production which served as his introduction to professional acting.

His first onscreen role came in 1992 when he served as a host to MTV’s lip syncing competition Lip Service. Mohr gained a strong reputation as a host, and was invited to join the cast of Saturday Night Live from 1993 to 1995. He published a book about his time on the show in 2004 entitled Gasping for Airtime: Two Years in the Trenches of Saturday Night Live.

One year after leaving SNL, he landed his first film role playing sports agent Bob Sugar in Jerry Maguire. Some of his other notable appearances include Pay It Forward (2000) and The Adventures of Pluto Nash (2002). Mohr has also hosted radio shows and previously had a stint on Fox Sports Radio.

From 1998 to 2004, Mohr was in a relationship with Nicole Chamberlain. The pair share one child, son Jackson. In 2006 the comedian wed actress Nikki Cox. Cox gave birth to their son Meredith Daniel in 2011, and the couple divorced in 2018. In September 2023, Mohr married sports executive Jeanie Buss.
