Jenna Ortega is an Emmy-nominated actress best known for her lead role on Netflix’s Wednesday. Born in Palm Desert, California, Ortega is the fourth of six children. She began acting at age 9 and was homeschooled to accommodate her schedule, choosing to pursue acting full time after high school.

Ortega began booking roles in commercials as a child and made her TV debut with minor roles on Rob and CSI: NY. She gained recognition playing Young Jane on Jane the Virgin and later starred as Harley Diaz on the Disney Channel series Stuck in the Middle, which earned her an Imagen Award in 2018 for Best Young Actor. She later transitioned into more mature roles, landing roles in You, The Babysitter: Killer Queen (2020) and The Fallout (2021).

In 2022, she was announced to star in the titular role of Netflix’s Wednesday, a performance that earned her both Golden Globe and Primetime Emmy nominations. She later joined the Scream film franchise, playing the role of Tara Carpenter in Scream (2022) and Scream VI (2023).

The actress has also voiced characters in animated projects like Elena of Avalor and Jurassic World Camp Cretaceous.

In 2024, she acted alongside Michael Keaton and Winona Ryder in Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, and the following year, she led the film Death of a Unicorn with Paul Rudd.
