Jesse Lee Soffer has been acting since childhood, making his on-screen debut in a Kix cereal commercial. He made foray into movies in 1993, appearing in Matinee. Two years later he portrayed Bobby Brady in The Brady Bunch Movie and in 1996, reprised the role for A Very Brady Sequel.

The New York native made a splash on the silver screen thanks to a recurring role on Two of a Kind before landing the role of Will Munson on As the World Turns in 2004. (He was nominated for three Daytime Emmy Awards during his six-year run on the soap opera.)

Soffer later jumped into procedurals, starring on The Mob Doctor from 2012 to 2013. The following year, he began playing Detective Jay Halstead on Chicago P.D. During his time on the show he crossed over to Chicago Fire and Chicago Med. He announced his exit from the series in 2022, but returned for his directorial debut the following year. Soffer has been playing Wes Mitchell on FBI: International since season 4 debuted in 2024.

The actor has romanced many of his former costars over the years, including Chicago P.D.’s Sophia Bush. The pair dated on and off from 2014 to 2016. Us Weekly broke the news in 2018 that Soffer was dating Torrey DeVitto, who starred on Chicago Med. They split in 2019. Rumors surfaced in January 2024 that Soffer and P.D. alum Tracy Spiridakos have been secretly dating for years.
