Joanna “JoJo” Levesque

JoJo was born Joanna Noelle “JoJo” Levesque. As a child, JoJo performed in singing competitions including America’s Most Talented Kids, which is where a record producer spotted her in 2003.

She released her debut album in 2004, which peaked at the No. 4 spot on the Billboard 200. JoJo became the youngest solo artist in history to top the Billboard Mainstream Top 40 chart with the release of her debut single “Leave (Get Out).” She was 13 at the time.

JoJo’s second album, The High Road, came out in 2006. Her first top-five Hot 100 hit “Too Little Too Late” was part of the record. In 2014, after a multi-year legal battle with Blackground Records, she was finally released from the contract she signed at age 12. The musician signed with Atlantic Records and two years later she released her third studio album, Mad Love.

In 2017, JoJo founded her own record label, Clover Music, through a partnership with Warner Records. Under that umbrella she released her Good to Know and December Baby albums in 2020 followed by Trying Not to Think About It in 2021.

She made her Broadway debut in Moulin Rouge and released her memoir, Over the Influence, in 2024. Her EP, titled NGL, dropped in early 2025.

JoJo is also an actress, making her film debut with 2006’s Aquamarine. That same year she starred in RV. She has also appeared on several TV shows, including Hawaii Five-0, Lethal Weapon and All American in 2022.

JoJo dated soccer player Freddy Adu from 2005 to 2006. She announced in December 2021 that she was engaged to actor Dexter Darden. The pair called it quits the following year.
