Lisa Ann Walter is an actress best known for her role in Abbott Elementary and as the beloved nanny in The Parent Trap. Walter was born in Silver Spring, Maryland, and spent her childhood in Washington, D.C. She attended Catholic University of America, graduating in 1983 with a bachelor’s degree in theater.

Walter began her career performing Off-Broadway as Brandy in the South Street Theatre production Battery. Shortly after, she transitioned to stand-up comedy, performing for five years before moving to television in 1995. She starred in shows like My Wildest Dreams, Life’s Work, Breaking News and Emeril before her breakout in 1998’s The Parent Trap. She went on to star in movies including Bruce Almighty (2003), Shall We Dance? (2004) and War of the Worlds (2006).

Walter made later television appearances on shows like Grey’s Anatomy and 9-1-1 before joining the cast of the Emmy-nominated comedy Abbott Elementary in 2021, sharing the screen with Quinta Brunson and Tyler James Williams.

Walter was married to actor Sam Baum from 1983 to 1999. They have two children, Jordan (born in 1988) and Delia (born in 1992). She also has twin sons, Spencer and Simon (born in 2000).
