Michael Jordan

Michael Jordan is regarded as one of the greatest American basketball players of all time. Jordan spent much of his childhood in North Carolina and played both baseball and basketball growing up. He was selected to play on his high school varsity basketball team as a sophomore and very quickly became a top recruit. Jordan went on to play for the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill, and it was during this time that he made a name for himself on the national stage.

Jordan was selected as the NCAA College Player of the Year in both 1983 and 1984, and he went on to participate in the 1984 summer Olympics before being recruited to play for the Chicago Bulls professionally. During his time with the NBA, Jordan accumulated numerous awards and was a five-time MVP. He also earned the nickname “Air Jordan” for his skillful maneuvers and dunks on the court. The name stuck and was given to his line of sneakers after landing an endorsement with Nike.

In 1992, Jordan won gold at the Summer Olympics with a group of players that earned the title “Dream Team.” He went on to win multiple championships with the Bulls. Jordan was in and out of retirement before finally leaving the NBA in 2003.

Jordan has made numerous television and film appearances, with his most notable being the 1996 movie Space Jam.

In 1988, Jordan had his first child, son Jeffrey, with Juanita Vanoy. The couple wed the following year and went on to have two more children, Marcus (born in 1990) and Jasmine (born in 1992), before divorcing in 2006. He tied the knot with Yvette Prieto in 2013, and the couple share twin daughters, Victoria and Ysabel (born 2014).
