Suni Lee

Born Sunisa Lee in Saint Paul, Minnesota, the professional athlete started attending gymnastics classes at the age of 6. She began competing in the sport shortly after and moved up three levels two years later.

Lee has previously discussed how her father fell off a ladder, an injury that left him paralyzed, days before she was set to compete in her first USA Gymnastics National Championships in 2019. The Olympian lost her aunt and uncle to COVID-19 the following year.

The Minnesota native was part of the team that won gold at the 2019 World Championships and went on to win silver at the 2020 Olympic Games. Lee holds the honor of being the first Hmong-American Olympian after participating in the Tokyo competition in 2021.

Following her success at the Olympics, the governor of Minnesota announced that July 30, 2021, is now considered to be “Sunisa Lee Day.”

Lee was announced as one of the participants on season 30 of Dancing With the Stars, with Sasha Farber as her partner.
