Tina Knowles

Tina Knowles is best known for being the mother of superstar daughters Beyoncé and Solange Knowles.

Tina was born Celestine Ann “Tina” Beyoncé and is the youngest of seven siblings. She started her career as a makeup artist before becoming a dance choreographer. In 1990, Tina opened her own hair salon, Headliners, in Houston, Texas.

In 1980, Tina wed Mathew Knowles and they welcomed daughters Beyoncé and Solange in 1981 and 1986, respectively. Both parents were involved in the start of their daughters’ music careers. Mathew managed Destiny’s Child, while Tina served as the group’s costume designer.

Tina went on to create her own fashion line and has made countless appearances in Beyoncé’s various projects. She made her acting debut in The Proud Family: Louder and Prouder and also had a role in the Lifetime thriller Wrath: A Seven Deadly Sins Story alongside former Destiny’s Child member Michelle Williams.

In 2009, Tina filed for divorce from Mathew but dropped the paperwork the following year. Tina ultimately refiled for divorce in August 2011 and it was finalized three months later.

Two years after her divorce, Tina began dating her longtime friend, Richard Lawson. The pair tied the knot in 2015. Tina became the stepmother to Lawson’s two children, son Ricky and daughter Bianca Lawson. Tina filed for divorce from the actor in July 2023, citing irreconcilable differences.
