Vanna White was born Vanna Marie Rosich in North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. She was raised by her mother, Joan Marie Rosich, and stepfather, Herbert White Jr., whose surname she took on. White attended the Atlanta School of Fashion Design and moved to Los Angeles shortly after graduation to pursue a career in modeling.

White spent her early career making minor appearances in film and TV, and first appeared on the game show The Price is Right in 1980 as a contestant. After an audition in 1982, she was selected to join game show Wheel of Fortune with Pat Sajak as a letter turner. White is most well-known for her Wheel of Fortune role and has appeared on the show for over 40 seasons. She currently cohosts the show with Ryan Seacrest.

In 1986, White’s fiancé John Gibson passed away in a plane crash. In 1990, she married George Santo Pietro. The couple welcomed two children, Nikko (born in 1994) and Gigi (born in 1997), before their divorce in 2002. In 2026, she announced her marriage to longtime partner John Donaldson, whom she began dating in 2012.
