Alanis Morissette is a Canadian-American singer, songwriter and actress. Morissette began playing piano and songwriting as a child. She appeared on the Canadian children’s show You Can’t Do That on Television and committed to pursuing music full time after graduating high school.

Morissette released two dance-pop albums in Canada before making her U.S. debut with Jagged Little Pill in 1995. The alternative album was a global success, earning her four Grammy Awards and selling over 33 million copies worldwide. She followed up with albums Supposed Former Infatuation Junkie (1998), Under Rug Swept (2002), So-Called Chaos (2004) and The Storm Before the Calm (2022). Her debut album inspired the Broadway musical Jagged Little Pill, which opened in 2019 and won two Tony Awards.

In addition to her music career, she has made on screen appearances in films such as Dogma (1999) and The Prince of Desire (2015) and on shows such as Curb Your Enthusiasm and Weeds. She has also lent her voice to animated projects like Top Wing and The Great North.

Morissette previously dated actors Dave Coulier in the ‘90s and was briefly engaged to Ryan Reynolds in the early ‘00s. In 2010, she married rapper Mario “Souleye” Treadway. The couple share children Ever (born in 2010), Onyx (born in 2016) and Winter (born in 2019).
