Bill Maher

Bill Maher (born William Maher) is a comedian, political commentator and television host. Maher graduated from Pascack Hills High School before going on to earn a degree in English and history from Cornell University in 1978.

Maher began his career as a stand-up comedian in the late 1970s, performing in New York clubs and appearing on The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson and Late Night with David Letterman. His sharp political humor led to the launch of Politically Incorrect with Bill Maher on Comedy Central in 1993, which later moved to ABC. The show earned several Emmy nominations before its cancellation in 2002.

In 2003, Maher launched Real Time with Bill Maher on HBO, where he continues to host weekly political discussions featuring politicians, celebrities and journalists. The show received over 20 Emmy nominations, including multiple nominations for Outstanding Variety Talk Series. Maher also produced and starred in the 2008 documentary Religulous and has authored several books including New Rules: Polite Musings from a Timid Observer (2005).

Maher has been romantically linked to several women over the years, including former Playboy Cyber Girl Coco Johnsen and singer Anjulie Persaud. In 2024, he began seeing producer Noor Alfallah.
