Busy Philipps

Elizabeth Jean “Busy” Philipps is an American actress known for her work on various television shows, including Freaks and Geeks, Dawson’s Creek and ER, as well as movies like White Chicks and I Feel Pretty. Philipps spent her childhood in Scottsdale, Arizona. Her early exposure to the entertainment industry included community theater in Scottsdale and summer training programs, including a class at England’s Oxford School of Drama.

Her career began when she landed the role of Kim Kelly on Freaks and Geeks from 1999 to 2000. Her time on the show led to her role as Audrey Liddel on Dawson’s Creek. She later joined the cast of ER in 2006 as Hope Bobeck.

In 2009, she secured the role of Laurie Keller on Cougar Town, which won her a Critics’ Choice Television Award for Best Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series in 2011. She also hosted the late night show Busy Tonight from 2018 to 2019.

Philipps married screenwriter Marc Silverstein on June 16, 2007. They share daughters Birdie Leigh (born in 2008) and Cricket Pearl (born in 2013). The couple separated in 2021.
