Carole Gene Candy Spelling Marer (most commonly known as “Candy”) was born in Beverly Hills, California. She is an author, theater producer and philanthropist. Spelling was married to film and TV producer Aaron Spelling from 1968 up until he died in 2006.

Spelling released her autobiography, Stories from Candyland in 2009, which made The New York Times best-seller list shortly after its release. Candy at Last, her memoir, was published in 2014 by Wiley.

The theater producer has numerous Broadway producing credits under her belt. Spelling’s first credit was 2010’s Promises, Promises, which starred Kristin Chenoweth and Sean Hayes. The following year, she produced her second Broadway show, How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying, which had Daniel Radcliffe in the lead role. She also produced 2016’s The Color Purple, which Cynthia Erivo starred in.

Spelling and her late husband shared daughter, Tori Spelling and a son, Randy Gene Spelling. As a family, they appeared on many of Aaron’s shows, including Beverly Hills, 90210.
