Sean Hayes is an actor and comedian known for his role as Jack McFarland in the NBC comedy series Will & Grace (1998), which earned him an Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series in 2001. Raised by a single mother, Hayes grew up with four brothers and supported himself as a classical pianist and as a member of a pop band for five years. He attended Illinois State University, where he majored in performance and orchestral conducting.
Hayes began his professional career in Chicago theater, as musical director at the Pheasant Run Theater, appearing on stage in several productions, including the original production of Role Play at the Organic Theater. In early November 2024, Hayes drove himself to the ER because of a heart issue twice in one night. In May 2021, he shared on Jimmy Kimmel Live! that he has atrial fibrillation, a type of arrhythmia (irregular heart rhythm).
