
Carla Bruni-Sarkozy
Carla Bruni-Sarkozy is an Italian-French singer, model and former first lady of France known for her music career and marriage to former French president Nicolas Sarkozy. Carla was born in Turin, Italy, but moved to France at age seven. She went on to study art and architecture before making the decision to pursue modeling full time.
Bruni began modeling in the late 1980s and quickly became one of the top fashion models in the world, working for brands like Dior, Chanel and Dolce & Gabbana. She transitioned to music in the early 2000s, releasing her debut album Quelqu’un m’a dit in 2003 which found success in France and beyond. She followed up with No Promises (2004), Comme si de rien n’était (2008) and Carla Bruni (2020).
After marrying Sarkozy, she became the first lady of France from 2008 to 2012, during which she was involved in philanthropic work related to education and HIV/AIDS awareness.
Bruni was previously linked to public figures including Mick Jagger and Eric Clapton. She and Sarkozy welcomed daughter Giulia in 2011. Bruni also has a son, Aurélien (born in 2001), from a previous relationship with philosophy professor Raphaël Enthoven.
