
Dana Carvey
Dana Carvey is a comedian and actor best known for his time on Saturday Night Live and his role as Garth Algar in the Wayne’s World franchise. Carvey was raised in the San Francisco Bay Area and attended San Francisco State University, where he earned a degree in broadcast communications.
Carvey began performing stand-up in the late 1970s and made his film debut in 1981’s Halloween II. After appearances on One of the Boys and Blue Thunder, he joined the cast of Saturday Night Live in 1986. He was awarded the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Individual Performance in a Variety Or Music Program in 1993 for his performance on the show.
After SNL, Carvey starred in Wayne’s World (1992) and Wayne’s World 2 (1993) opposite Mike Myers, and he later led the short-lived The Dana Carvey Show in 1996. He later appeared in films like Trapped in Paradise (1994), The Master of Disguise (2002) and voiced characters in Hotel Transylvania 2 (2015) and The Secret Life of Pets (2016).
In 2022, he began cohosting the podcast “Fly on the Wall” with David Spade.
Carvey married Paula Zwagerman in 1983 after a previous marriage to Leah Carvey. He and Zwagerman share two sons, Dex (1991-2023) and Thomas (born in 1994).
