Dylan McDermott
Dylan McDermott (born Mark Anthony McDermott) was raised in Waterbury, Connecticut, with younger sister Robin. His mother passed away when he was young, and he was sent to live with his grandmother while his father worked to support both children. As a teenager, he grew close to his father’s third wife, playwright V (formerly Eve Ensler), who introduced him to the world of acting. After a miscarriage, McDermott adopted the chosen name Dylan as a sign of gratitude towards his stepmother. He went on to graduate from Fordham University in 1983.
McDermott’s big break came when he was cast for The Practice, in which he played defense attorney Bobby Donnell. The legal drama ran from 1997 to 2004 and earned him a Golden Globe for Best Television Series actor. This role made McDermott a household name, and his later filmography includes The Perks of Being a Wallflower, Stalker, American Horror Story and the Law and Order universe. He joined the cast of CBS’s FBI: Most Wanted as Supervisory Special Agent Remy Scott in 2022.
The actor married actress Shiva Rose in 1995, and the couple had their first daughter Colette in 1996, and second daughter Charlotte in 2008. After 13 years together, the two split in 2009.
In 2014, McDermott was confirmed to be in a relationship with Stalker costar Maggie Q. The pair ended the relationship in 2019 after four years of engagement.
