FKA Twigs

FKA twigs (born Tahliah Debrett Barnett) is a Grammy-nominated singer, songwriter, dancer and producer known for her experimental music, distinctive visuals and genre-blending approach to pop and R&B. Born and raised in Gloucestershire, England, she grew up in a working-class household and attended St Edward’s School in Cheltenham, England. Twigs later studied dance at the BRIT School before attending Croydon College, where she focused on fine art and performance. She initially trained as a dancer before transitioning into music.

Twigs began her career as a backup dancer, appearing in music videos and touring with various artists including Kylie Minogue, Jessie J and Ed Sheeran. She started releasing her own music in 2012 with EP1, which drew attention for its minimalist sound and self-directed visuals. Her rise continued with EP2 (2013) and culminated in her 2014 debut album LP1, which earned a Mercury Prize nomination and established her as a boundary-pushing artist.

She followed with projects including M3LL155X (2015), Magdalene (2019) and Caprisongs (2022), receiving widespread acclaim and multiple Brit Award and Grammy nominations, including a Grammy nomination in 2020 for Best Music Video. In addition to music, twigs has acted in films including Honey Boy (2019) and The Crow (2024) and is known for directing and choreographing her own performances.

Twigs was previously engaged to Robert Pattinson from 2014 to 2017. She later moved on with Shia LaBeouf in 2018. The pair split in 2019, and she later filed a lawsuit against him for sexual battery and assault. LaBeouf denied all accusations. She was later linked to Matty Healy before moving on with photographer Jordan Hemingway in 2023.
