Hayes MacArthur

Hayes MacArthur is an actor and stand-up comedian best known for starring as Jay Geils on Angie Tribeca. Born in Chicago, Illinois, Hayes is the older brother of actor and writer Scott MacArthur. He attended Deerfield Academy before earning a bachelor’s degree in Government from Bowdoin College. He went on to study improvisational comedy at the Groundlings Theater Company and the Atlantic Theater Company.

MacArthur began his career performing stand-up comedy and appearing in television competitions in the early 2000s. He made guest appearances on shows such as Curb Your Enthusiasm, The King of Queens and How I Met Your Mother before landing a recurring role on the sitcom Worst Week from 2008 to 2009. He went on to star on the NBC sitcom Perfect Couples, and played recurring characters on Go On and other comedies.

He earned wider recognition as Jay Geils on the TV series Angie Tribeca and appeared in films including The Game Plan (2007), Life as We Know It (2010), Super Troopers 2 (2018) and Dear Santa (2024).

MacArthur has been married to actress Ali Larter since 2009. The couple met on the set of National Lampoon’s Homo Erectus and got engaged in 2007. They share two children, son Theodore Hayes MacArthur (born in 2010) and daughter Vivienne Margaret MacArthur (born in 2015).
