About

Jenny Slate is an actress, comedian and writer best known for her roles in Parks and Recreation, Marcel the Shell and It Ends With Us. Slate graduated from Columbia University with a degree in English before embarking on a comedy career.

Slate’s big break came in 2009 when she joined the cast of Saturday Night Live. Though her time on the show was short-lived, it helped launch her career in Hollywood. Following her departure from SNL, she began appearing in sitcoms such as Parks and Rec and Brooklyn Nine-Nine as well as animated series like Bob’s Burgers and Big Mouth.

She made her mark on the big screen, as well. Her 2014 feature film debut in Obvious Child earned her critical acclaim. Slate’s other film credits include Gifted, The Secret Life of Pets and the Oscar-winning Everything, Everywhere All at Once.

The star released her first stand-up special, Stage Fright, in 2019 on Netflix, and her memoir, Little Weirds, was published the following year.

Slate was married to actor Dean Fleischer-Camp from 2012 to 2016. She moved on with Gifted costar Chris Evans, whom she dated for two years. Slate eventually tied the knot with husband Ben Shattuck in 2021, the same year they welcomed daughter Ida.
