
Jon Voight
Jon Voight is an Oscar-winning screen and theater actor. Voight first took interest in acting in high school and moved to New York City to attend the Neighborhood Playhouse School of the Theatre after graduation.
Voight got his professional start in the early ‘60s, making his Broadway debut as Rolf in the 1961 production of The Sound of Music. He went on to land numerous minor TV roles while continuing to pursue theater, and he eventually struck gold after being cast in the western movie Midnight Cowboy (1969). His performance as Joe Buck in the drama was highly acclaimed, and Voight watched his career take off soon after.
The actor went on to star in films such as Deliverance (1972) and Table for Five (1983). Voight’s role as Vietnam war veteran Luke Martin in the 1978 film Coming Home secured him his first Academy Award for Best Actor. He earned his second Oscar nomination and first Golden Globe for Best Actor for his portrayal of Oscar “Manny” Manheim in the action film Runaway Train (1985).
Over the years, the actor has appeared in a number of notable films, including Zoolander (2001) and the National Treasure series. He’s also had a prolific career in television and had recurring roles in shows such as 24 and Ray Donovan, the latter of which earned him a Primetime Emmy nomination.
Voight was cast as Sanborn in the 2025 action film The Man With No Past.
From 1962 to 1967, Voight was married to The Sound of Music costar Lauri Peters. After their split, the actor married actress Marcheline Bertrand in 1971. The pair share two children, James Haven and Angelina Jolie. Voight and Bertrand finalized their divorce in 1980. Voight has not remarried but has been linked to women such as Barbra Streisand and Diana Ross.
