Jane Fonda

Born in New York, Jane Fonda rose to fame acting in Tall Story, The Chapman Report, Period of Adjustment and Barefoot in the Park. Fonda won her first Academy Award in 1971 for her role as Bree Daniels in Klute. The Barbarella star later earned her second Oscar statue in 1978 after starring in Coming Home, two years before working with Lily Tomlin and Dolly Parton in 9 to 5.

In addition to scene-stealing acting roles, Fonda revolutionized the at-home workout. The Georgia Rule actress released her first VHS tape, “Workout Starring Jane Fonda,” in 1982, where she recorded a fat-burning aerobics workout.

The eight-time Golden Globe winner has also acted in Fun With Dick and Jane, Monster-in-Law, Book Club and 80 for Brady. Fonda and Tomlin went on to costar as Grace Hanson and Frankie Bergman, respectively, on Netflix’s Grace and Frankie for seven seasons, which ran between 2015 and 2022.

The Peabody Award winner is also a dedicated activist, famously protesting the Vietnam War in the 1970s. More recently, Fonda has been arrested multiple times since 2019 while protesting climate change as part of her “Fire Drill Fridays.”

Fonda and late ex-husband Roger Vadim, whom she was married to between 1965 to 1973, shared daughter Vanessa. The actress also coparents son Troy and adopted daughter Mary Luana with ex-husband Tom Hayden following their 1990 divorce. After splitting from Hayden, Fonda moved on with Ted Turner. The twosome were married from 1991 to 2001. The actress went on to date record producer Richard Perry from 2009 to 2017.
