Christopher Walken
Christopher Walken is an Oscar-winning actor known for his distinctive voice and scene-stealing performances across film, television and stage. Walken grew up in Astoria, Queens, and took a liking to dance as a child. He began appearing in television shows as a child and later made the decision to pivot from dance to acting. He later attended Hofstra University, where he studied drama, though he dropped out after being cast in the off-Broadway production of Best Foot Forward.
Walken started his professional career onstage, appearing in Broadway and off-Broadway productions throughout the 1960s. He made his film debut in 1968’s Me and My Brother and gradually built a steady résumé in television and movies. His breakout came in 1978 with The Deer Hunter (1978), which earned him the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor and established him as a major dramatic actor.
Over the decades, Walken has appeared in a wide range of notable projects, including Batman Returns (1992), True Romance (1993), Pulp Fiction (1994), Catch Me If You Can (2002), Hairspray (2007) and Seven Psychopaths (2012). He has also become a pop culture fixture through multiple hosting stints on Saturday Night Live and his dance performance in Fatboy Slim’s “Weapon of Choice” music video. In 2022, he joined the cast of the Apple TV+ series Severance, sharing the screen with Adam Scott and Britt Lower.
Walken began dating casting director Georgianne Walken in 1963, and the pair tied the knot in 1969.
